Sven Sonnenberg was born in Eastern Poland when WWII broke out in 1939. The first artillery shells of the war landed on the home he shared with his parents and sister. Young Sven and his sister survived the war, but his parents were victims of the Holocaust. In 1969, Sven arrived in Detroit Michigan with his wife Elizabeth. Sven gained employment as an engineer with one of the leading automotive and aerospace companies in America. Elizabeth was a talented mechanical designer. In 1995, Elizabeth was diagnosed with an advanced case of breast cancer. She obviously sought the help of the prominent breast cancer specialists. From the moment Sven learned Elizabeth's condition he began researching every aspect of Breast cancer and its possible cures. HE DID NOT STAND BY HELPLESSLY WAITING FOR HIS WIFE TO DIE. He used every ounce of his courage, determination, and intelligence to explore alternative medicine to keep his wife alive. His research took him virtually around the world. Thus, he convinced Elizabeth to become partners in her survival. And, therefore, added productive years to her life. Author Biography

Sven Sonnenberg was born in Poland in 1931 to a German-Jewish family and managed to survive World War II with his sister and mother by escaping, running, and hiding from the Nazis. The rest of his extended family perished in the Holocaust. He went on to study engineering, graduating with a Masters Degree in Engineering from the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute. In 1968, he immigrated with his wife and son to the United States and worked as an engineer for companies including Kelsey-Hayes, Towler Hydraulics, and Kodak until his retirement in 1995. When his wife was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, he applied all his research and development skills to help prolong her life. A chronicle of his efforts is documented in his book, "KEEPING HER ALIVE." His war time childhood traumas under the Nazis and his adult experiences under the Communists are documented in his memoirs, "A TWO STEP JOURNEY TO HELL: GERMAN-JEWISH FAMILY UNDER FASCISM AND COMMUNISM"
