I am filled with passion for this diverse community in which I live and serve. I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms and have been in counseling and treatment for several years. My desire was and still is to develop a broader understanding of mental health. I have the knowledge to utilize my training to better serve those with whom I interact. I consistently practice Bren? Brown's empathy approach, by going into those dark places with those who are suffering. I continue to exercise the ministry of presence. For example, Matt Sanders expressed, \"Our presence to one another is a very important part of the healing process.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMental health issues and evidence-based practices significantly impact how I extend chaplaincy care. As I continue to work closely with the mental health providers, physicians, nurses, social workers, and administrative team for the care and well-being of each patient, family member, and staff, I am better equipped to provide support and\/or pastoral care.
