Common causes of acute pancreatitis include, alcohol, obstruction and drug side effect. Marijuana has been documented as a rare cause of acute pancreatitis. While the pathophysiology of this disease process is not yet proven reports of its occurrence have increased in the last decade. This increase in reported cases of acute pancreatitis in conjunction with local legalization of medical and recreational marijuana use make this case of particular importance.
