Part of\u003cbr\u003e these properties may depend on a positive action toward healthier metabolism, \u003cbr\u003e decreasing the risk of diabetes and metabolic-syndrome-related conditions.\u003cbr\u003e Some studies also suggested a potential role in preventing certain cancers. Finally, \u003cbr\u003e newer research has showed that a higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet is\u003cbr\u003e associated with a lower risk of cognitive decline, depression, and other mental\u003cbr\u003e disorders.
